I´ve been a bit absent on this blog for a while due to a very hectic life at the moment. I´m doing an internship with Barcelona based corset designer Bibian Blue. It´s a lot of fun and I´m learning a lot. Plus I´m also working on starting up my own accessory online shop, and doing some upholstery work on the side (phew!!), so all that has left little time for blogging. Well more like, few things to blog about, as I´m still in the process of producing things, and don´t have that much to show you yet. Anyway, in the meantime I thought I´d share some of the work of the incredible designer where I´m lucky enough to have gotten an internship. Here are some of amazing the dresses from the new collection Crystal Flowers S/S “12. Hope you´ll like it!
So I´m making a few changes to my dear blog. This one will from now on be focused on design and fashion related topics, such as my work for example, and I´m moving all of my “nutrition, feminism, save the world posts” to my new blog The Bell Pepper Blog. So if you´re interested in anything in that area please follow me there! 🙂
Oh, and I apologize for the mess on this blog while I´m reconstructing it. 🙂
I´ve always liked alternative christmas trees. A few years ago I tried to convince my then boyfriend that a big sparkly pink tree would be a great idea, he didn´t agree… However he was able to settle for a more “masculine” tree in black and silver, going with the black and white minimalist interior of the apartment. And it ended up looking amazing! We found a plastic tree completely in black with little hints of silver and we put all black and silver decorations in it. Unfortunately I lost all my images in the great computer crash of 2010, otherwise I´d be happy to share it with you.
Someone who did get her pink tree is designer Betsey Johnson. It´s residing in The Plaza Hotel in New York and was inspired by one of their most famous, however fictional, celebrity guests, children´s book character Eloise. Betsey Johnson has also created an Eloise inspired suite for the hotel back in 2010.
At the unveiling of the tree the designer stated:
“I always knew there was a cosmic love between me and the Plaza, even though I didn’t grow up with Eloise, when I moved to New York, Eloise’s story and the Plaza were real aspirational fantasies for me. And I love that they’ve kept the architecture, history and beauty of The Plaza, instead of trying to make it too modern.”
“It’s filled with girly stuff — pink feathers, sparkles, foldout Eloise paper dolls. There’s three quarters of me that’s six years old and it comes out.”
Winter is upon us on my side of the world, although Europe is experiencing some suprisingly hot weather for the season. Here in Spain it´s been constantly raining for over a week. And my mother just informed me that there are people in the north of Sweden still growing strawberries in their gardens. (!!!) But anyway, if you are currently residing in a colder climate here are some gloves and mitten tips for this winter season.
For those who feel like making sarcastic comments with the appropriate air quote becomes a problem in the winter when your fingers are usually all covered up. Your problems are solved with these air quote mittens by Kate Spade
Ok these don´t really have a second function, they´re just cute and keep you warm. Hedgehogg mittens by Morehouse Merino
Kitten mittens, if you haven´t outgrown loosing your mittens everytime you leave the house. I´m seriously considering a pair of these…
These are my favorites; Do the green thing gathers up lost gloves from donations and lost and found boxes, washes and repairs then and then pair them up by size (not color) and sell them online, profits go to charity.
In the quest for fabric for my thesis collection I stumbled upon this one. Something to keep in mind for the probably hundreds of Ikea bags (ok that was a bit of an exaggeration, but there´s lots of them) hiding around somewhere in my apartment. I always buy at least one when I´m paying a visit to my swedish mothership, because of the practicality of them. (As a fashion student I ever so often have to carry my own body weight in materials to and from school, then these little blue weaved thingies come in handy.) Then I come home from my shopping trip, put it somewhere and never see it again. Next time I repeat the process. Now, unless I have little elves sneaking around carrying out the bags when I´m sleeping, one day I´m destined to come across all of them in their secret hiding place. And now I know what to do with them, an Ikea ready-to-wear rain coat collection! 😉
Industrial designer Rony Plesl designed these extravagant chandeliers for Czech lighting manufacturer Lasvit. They are called Uovo D’argentis (silver egg) and Uovo D’oro (gold egg), and I certainly wouldn´t mind having any one of them bringing some glamour and light into our humbly decorated living room.
